Jamie Donaldson is a recent graduate of London Metropolitan University and a furniture designer and maker. He spent time studying photography and product design in the past but has chosen to pursue his passion for furniture.
Before starting his degree in furniture making he worked for his father at a 20th century antiques, architectural salvage and lighting business called Source Antiques. There he dabbled in many different areas including restoration and rebuilding 1950s aluminium kitchens.
Jamie enjoys the craft nature behind the construction of furniture as well as the tactile properties that the materials have. He enjoys being able to experiment with different types of materials and testing out how they work with each other.
A recent piece by Jamie received The Worshipful Company of Upholders Derek Austin Award, Highly Commended. This was the “Flip Bench” and Jamie was presented with this award at his summer show in June.
